BBT 10- PSA

Our awareness video adressed the issue of illegal downloads. Our target audiene was teens because downloading illegally is a very big problem within youth today. Teens download music, movies, games, TV shows, etc. illegally all the time, sometimes without even realizing. We chose our footage because they are all of technology, which makes the viewer think about what the video is saying. Our message discusses the consequences of what can happen when downloading illegally. I think it will be effective because it will make our audience think of what can happen if they illegally download something, and how serious it really is. Hugo and Daniel decided on the footage that we used for the video. Olivia did the voice recording that tells the message, and Laura put the footage together to create the video.

BBT 10- How Computers Work

Central Processing Unit (CPU) or Processor is the electronic circuitry in a computer that carries out instructions for a computer program by performing the basic logical, control and input/output specified by the instructions. 2 manufacturers that make these are AMD and Intel.

BBT 10- Journal Entry #8: Digital Law

  •  In this unit I found most surprising is that there is so much material that can be copied for teaching needs.
  • I found it most confusing was that we were doing a project on copying and for our answers we had to copy most of them.

  • I think the copyright matters material is a good guide for students when they are unsure about copyright information.  I think it has a lot of helpful information that can be easily accessed.  It is just whether students would access it or not.
  • The website NeedHelpNow.com is also a very good help for students looking for information on cyber bulling.  It has a lot of important information that can help students during a bad situation.  It also, has a lot of sources on how to report the cyber bullying incident.  I just don't think it is know that well by many people so, it isn't as efficient as it could be!
  • I think the biggest issue for young people when it comes to copying is the copying in itself.  Copying is so easy to do now with all the technology.  Many students just don't have the work ethic or desire to finish assignments on their own.  Many students would much rather just take a paper offline and take the risk, rather than spend time doing it themselves.  Copying happens a lot now a days and it's a growing issue for young people!
  • I think the biggest issue for young people when it comes to cyber bullying is that many people don't report it.  It happens so often now a days with the technology we have and many people don't even consider themselves bullying or being bullied.  A lot of people don't know where or how to report these cyber bullying issues.  If the websites and places to report them got out there more, cyber bullying might be easier to catch and abolish!

BBT 10- Assignment #2: Cyberbullying (and Privacy)

1. Non-Consensual Distribution of an Intimate Image: if someone has a sexual/intimate picture/video of you that was created in private circumstances, and that person knowingly posts it online or shares it with someone else knowing that you would not consent to that (or being reckless about whether you would consent to it), the person could be charged.

Voyeurism: secretly observing or recording a person who reasonably believes his/her actions are private and:
who is in a place where the person might be expected to change or remove clothing (e.g. bedroom, bathroom, change room, cabin, tent);
who is all or partially naked or engaged in sexual activity at the time; or
where the recording is done for sexual reasons.

2. Acts that make others feel unsafe.
Harassment: doing or saying something that makes someone else scared for themselves or someone else (e.g. making threats, stalking, repeatedly texting/emailing, constantly following).

Acts that hurt the reputation of another person.
Impersonation: pretending or claiming to be someone else (living or dead) to benefit yourself or someone else, to hurt the person you are pretending to be or to hurt another person.

3.
Search online for the agency that is responsible for policing in your area.
Phone the detachment, let them know your age and tell them what has happened.
Go to www.cybertip.ca/report to tell us about your concern.

4. You should always include your age. You should always also say if it is you in the picture or not. You should also let them know if you sent the picture or video to someone so it does not cause trouble. To deal with peers you should never message back to a mean message. You could also delete the bully from your social networks.

5. What I found interesting about "Don't Let Others Write Your Story" is that everything they said was helpful, like sticking up for yourself.

6. One way I could help promote the #changeyourstory is if they have a Facebook page I could share it.
