BBT 10- Assignment #1: Open the Door to Ecuador

  1. The Ecuador government would like to became less dependent on natural resource extraction as a source of economic growth. Instead, they are seeking to create a digital- and knowledge-based economy.
  2. ICT sands for Information Communication Technology
  3.  Ecuador's key policy goals consist of domestic ICT labor force by making technological knowledge. And innovation available to marginalized segments of the population.
  4. Ever since 2008, the government has brought in 473 "infocentros" - public spaces that provide computer training and internet access to rural communities all around Ecuador. I think they would work in some parts of New Brunswick because some people don't have computers and they need a place to work.
  5. In March, the government of Yachay inaugurated the country's first planned city of nearly 17 square miles designed to become a hub for technological research and  also scientific infrastructure. The Yachay University, which is now Ecuador's first research technology institute. The university will offer degrees in the following areas: life sciences, information and communications technology, nanoscience, renewable energy and petro chemistry.
  6. I think their effort is working for them because they need to get advanced in order to get the education they wanted and also the technology. They are preparing for the future as well as current generation so they can too have a it. I think that New Brunswick should try to get internet access to people who want it.
