BBT 10- Assignment #1: Open the Door to Ecuador

  1. The Ecuador government would like to became less dependent on natural resource extraction as a source of economic growth. Instead, they are seeking to create a digital- and knowledge-based economy.
  2. ICT sands for Information Communication Technology
  3.  Ecuador's key policy goals consist of domestic ICT labor force by making technological knowledge. And innovation available to marginalized segments of the population.
  4. Ever since 2008, the government has brought in 473 "infocentros" - public spaces that provide computer training and internet access to rural communities all around Ecuador. I think they would work in some parts of New Brunswick because some people don't have computers and they need a place to work.
  5. In March, the government of Yachay inaugurated the country's first planned city of nearly 17 square miles designed to become a hub for technological research and  also scientific infrastructure. The Yachay University, which is now Ecuador's first research technology institute. The university will offer degrees in the following areas: life sciences, information and communications technology, nanoscience, renewable energy and petro chemistry.
  6. I think their effort is working for them because they need to get advanced in order to get the education they wanted and also the technology. They are preparing for the future as well as current generation so they can too have a it. I think that New Brunswick should try to get internet access to people who want it.

BBT 10- Journal Entry #6: Digital Business

  • The most interesting thing about this unit is you find out all the stuff that happens with people and the internet.
  • Most of the information was easy to find because its all based on what we already know about sites and sources.
  • Yes, I sold an old formal dress on Facebook to one of the people on there. It was a positive experience because everything went good!
  • Two tips I think would be helpful when shopping online
  1. When buying online sometimes prices seem too good to be true so be careful of LARGE SHIPPING COSTS designed by the seller to get the real price through trickery. because people may not be aware of what the shipping cost may be, on top of their order.
  2. When buying using KIJIJI and other online service make sure buying is done in a PUBLIC PLACE and never send money via mail or other ways to the seller. because many people use online services like KIJIJI, and products on those websites may not always be real, it could be someone just looking for money.
    • I think the biggest issue among young people when it comes to onling shopping and/or selling, is that people don't realize how you have to check where and who you are getting your product from. If you don't check all the services, then your purchase may never come, or may come the completely wrong thing. Also when selling things online, you have to make sure you include all of the information needed.

BBT 10- Assignment #2: PayPal

  1. PayPal seems to have a lot of safety because it has a lot of products trusting it with its products.
  2. It keeps us safe because it keeps all our information safe and no one can see our bank accounts and personal information.
  3. PayPal does charge the buyers because it charges the sellers, it adds a little bit on to their price and they take their profit off it when they sell it.
  4. When your product doesn't come, PayPal knows so it protects you by not giving your information to that store and your completely safe fro the hackers and the people that just want to steal your money
  5. If I owned a company and I needed a place to buy online stuff I would use PayPal because its reliable and people use it all the time.
  6. Thse two sites are basically the exact same thing. The only thing different about them is the site they are on. They are both reliable and people use them.

BBT 10- Assignment #1: Shopping Carts?

  1. People still shop in stores and malls because of the socializing concept of it. they like the idea of being out and the experience of it. Also, they shop in stores because they don't want to waiting for the product to be shipped in so they go straight to the store and buy it. When buying something at a you can try it on before you buy it, you have no disappointments when you bring it ho because you have already tried it on.
  2. Shopping online is a lot easier then going to a store, its less stress and you know what to look for, you can shop any where, any time because the 'store' your shopping from doesn't close because its online. If you live in a small are there isn't always the store you want so you have no choice but to shop online.
  3. If I ha the choice to shop online or go out to a store, I think I would go out and buy something just because then I can try the product in the store rather then waiting until I have it home there wouldn't be any disappointments. Also I like the shopping experience of going into stores. Shopping online is also very useful because if you don't have that store around here you cant just order it online.
  4. I think in 2050 shopping online will also still be used but people will still go into stores. In some cases you cant order everything offline and it comes to your door. Like food for example, it cant come in the mail, by the time we got the food that came in the mail it would be old and gross.
  5. This new thing they are focusing on is something that will probably stick in todays world. Everything is ordered and shipped to us, right to your door. This is not a small business change because its not just one place, its all over the world.
  6. Buy shopping online you can just sent the product back saying something was wrong with it and they will give you a new one.

BBT 10- Journal Entry #5 (Digital Wellness)

  1. What I found most interesting/sad was that people in New Brunswick are the fattest in the world because they wont get out of the house because they are too in love with their TV.
  2. The most confusing was that we can say all we want out people being fat and over weight ut we aren't going to change anything because everyone is too lazy.
  3. The biggest issue we have is being re getting fat and over weight everyday but we cant do anything bout it because they cant put their phone away long enough to actually play a sport or do an activity with their friends because they are addicted  to Netflix and their phones.

BBT 10- Assignment #2: The Pledge

5 PLEDGES
  • I pledge to go out and do things with friends rather then staying home and watching TV.
  • I pledge to not use my phone all night and get a good amount of sleep.
  • I pledge to eat healthy food while watching TV or on my phone.
  • I pledge that I will not spend that much time watching Netflix.
  • I pledge not to text that much and actually interact with people.

BBT 10- One Mississippi

  1. After watching the video of the meter sticks I seen that it only takes like seconds to read a text message but those seconds are meaningful when driving a fast speed on a straight road. Being on a curly road is worse because of the fact that you don't know what's coming ahead. It only takes seconds for an accident to happen.
  2. The YouTube video that we had to watch was very effective because it shows us that that stuff is so true and possible. Taking your eyes off the road and reading a text can lead to alot as in an accident like the video. The video wont change anything because every person is so attached to their phone they are addicted to it they always have to check it as soon as they know they have a message.
  3. A new invention that was create a couple years ago was the thing that reads your messages out for you and then you say what you want back to them and it does it so people wont get distracted and go off the road.
  4. If I was in a car with someone that was speeding I would speak up to them because it would b putting my life in danger also their life. Seeing someone drive fast y the self is just  putting their own self in danger but when someone is with them is just selfish cause they have no control over what's going to happen, so yes I would speak up to the driver.

BBT 10- Journal #4: Netiquette

  1. The part I found surprising is that the rules that apply to the online discussion is basically the same rules people use in everyday life. They are all important and apply to everyone.
  2. No, most people don't read the Terms n Services section when it comes to joining a new site because its all too much to read for people so they just skip that part of the website. When joining a new website you should read some of the Terms and Service just to understand what will go on and happen.
  3. When being online I don't do much, I basically just look and don't say anything unless I have to. Rating myself on a scale of my behaviour on line, I would be about a 9. I don't do anything online unless I have too.
  4. When it comes to young people online, I have the worst problem would be them not knowing how to act. Having social media sites we all see the stuff that young people put online, it sometimes is annoying but its people that are trying to get their point a crossed I guess.

BBT 10- Online Discussion Boards Assignment #3

  1. After reading over the 'Netiquette for Online Discussion' I seen that most of the rules or conditions are similar to talking to someone in person. They all state that you should respect other when talking and don't be annoying.
  2.   The guide line that I feel is one of the important ones was 'Stay on topic' because if everyone is on  different topic, nothing makes sense and everyone is confused. The other one is 'Always say Please And Thanks' because you always have to be nice and be rude.  The Online Discussion page shows that being brief is better then having paragraph after paragraph discussing stuff that people went over already. Don't bad mouth anyone because it will come back on you and it isn't ice, people don't want to see that online.
  3. I think that having a class where we discuss stuff like that would be interesting but I think I wouldn't enjoy because I'm not really into technology like that. I think if you liked that fact of being online it would be a good course for you.

BBT 10- Do As I Say Assignment #2

Five facts that will make me choose the right way of doing things in digital society:

  1. I do not want to go to jail.
  2. I know a lot of work and time is put into making movies so they should get paid for them.
  3. The adults in my life who are doing the wrong stuff online are not happy people and I want to be happy.
  4. You should not download anything unless you really have too because that takes time.
  5. Always go y the rules when it comes to the internet.

BBT 10- Journal Entry #3 Digital Rights and Responsibilities

  1. I found most surprising was the responsibilities and rights you had, it was surprising because I didn't know we had those rights of the internet.
  2. When it cos to the internet, people become stupid and don't know how to act. They use the internet to the extent of acting childish. People do not act responsible when it comes to being on line.
  3. To me I think the most important one I created I think is the 'Thou shall have the right to privacy.' because everyone has a right to have their own right to privacy.
  4.  The biggest issue in digital rights and responsibilities with young people these days would probably be downloading stuff they should not be downloading.

BBT 10- Journal Entry #2

It was surprising that the maximum period of time you can wait to reply to someone is one week, and  then considered rude. I learned that you should reply within 24 hours, and that most people do. I  learned that you should not type in all caps because it makes the person you're talking to think you are yelling at them. Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) is an email field to which you can add more than one recipient, and the adress is hidden from everyone else.  This can be used when people sometimes forward emails without removing the adresses of recipients from before, which leads to messages that are repeatedly sent to many recipients. Out of this information I think the most important thing young people are to consider is to just think before you send and reply. Like did I say everything I needed to? Or Is it professional enough? I think these are important because you can't unsend a message after its sent.

BBT 10- Acronyms Attack

Acronyms I use to save time;

  1. RLY - really
  2. IDEC - I don't even care
  3. IDRC - I don't really know

Four places where I would never use acronyms would be :

  1. Emailing someone professional (teacher, boss, etc).
  2.  Posting something to notify others about, (school events)
  3. In a digital assignment for school (essay, story, etc).
  4. On a digital resume when applying for a job.

BBT 10- Communication Compass (Assignment One)

1.  The meaning of Digital Communication is: any electronic device exchanging information.

2.  In my opinion I think some advantages and disadvantages with Digital Communication are:

  • Advantage- If there is an emergency, you can get  hold of your family and friends for help.
  • Advantage- Having digital communication device you can keep updated on the last trends even if you are not home.
  • Advantage- They help people learn and understand things better due to the new technology
  • Advantage- You can communicate anyone around the world, its simple and easy.
  • Disadvantage- People are addicted to Digital Communication devises, they always have to have them on them.
  • Disadvantage- Having these devices also have some disadvantages, people don't have land lines any more due to these devices.
  • Disadvantage- Having Digital Communication device can also mean cyber bulling, kids and teens get cyber bullied all the tie due to Digital Communication devices.
  • Disadvantage- These things are not all good things either because of the fact that people always have their interest in their phone, they never pay attention to what is going on around them and never see the important things in life. There is so much respect gone down the drain due to these devices, people don't know how to act.
3.  I think that the most popular communication device these days are cell phones, iPod's and computers. These devices are all popular these days because everything is based on technology these days its all every body wants. Children (from all ages) use technology for many reasons, they start using technology has soon as they have the ability of use their hands. Its the same for all ages.

4.  I think that peoples house lines(or land lines) aren't going to be around for much longer because of the fact that everyone has and will have a cell phone and everyone will not use them because they will just use their cell phones.

5.  Some things should just be done in person but now days, people chose to do it over text. Some thing you shouldn't do over text are:

  1. A death- When telling someone that someone has passed away, its never a good thing to hear. But when hearing it over text its twice as bad, so just tell them in person.
  2. Breaking up with someone- Breaking up with someone is also something that isn't a nice thing to do or hear. Having to break up with someone is hard but when the tie comes, it has to be done so do it in person.
  3. Telling a big secret- In some cases you should not tell anyone a secret over text because someone could easily see your phone and then the person that sees your phone knows it too.
  4. Knowing something- When knowing something important you should be talked about over text because of the fact that maybe they didn't what anyone to know except you.
  5. Being some place important- When your some place important, you shouldn't use your phone because of the fact that you could be missing out on something. For example: you could be at a wedding and be missing it because your on your phone.
6.  Digital Communication is in all ways dangerous, people do not use the technology in the right ways and they get harmed because it all back fires on them. Its hurtful and harmful to everyone around it.

7.  I think everyone is going to stay connected to technology because of the fact that the technology is going to keep getting better and better and its going to keep people hooked.

8.  When people pass away I think their record of on line activities should not be touched because maybe someone wants to see what said person did over the years and wants to look at their pictures in memory of them.

BBT 10- Journal #1: Digital Security

        1. What I found interesting about creating a password was that people think that creating simple passwords will help the better because no one will guess them but really the simple ones are the first thing they check.
        2. In this unit there was nothing really difficult about it, it was just that you had to understand the stuff that you were reading.
        3. From the information that I read I think that my password is pretty safe, when creating a password it should be something that no one will ever think of so it has to be creative.
         4. When creating a password, make sure its creative therefore no one will ever guess it. A password is something that keeps your stuff safe so it has to work! Make sure your password is creative because if not, your password wont work and someone will figure it out.

BBT 10- Digital Security

1.I think the passwords that are the worst are the easiest to guess. I can see that if you have a bad password it is easier to figure out for other people.
2. No, I have not use any of the passwords because I knew they were easy passwords to figure out and didn't want people to figure them out.
3. Yes, I think that adults and older people would use these passwords because they probably have a hard time remembering and they think y having a simple password will help them.
4. A few other easy passwords that people can easily find out would be '123abc' and '987654321' and possibly 'password1'.
5. A password should be long but it shouldn't e too long because then it will be noticeable and then it would be easy to figure out.

BBT 10- Monster Mash

  • I chose this art piece because it had the easiest background to work with.
  • I drew this type of monster because there is water in my background so I chose a sea monster.
  • The easiest part would have been choosing the colours for the monster but the hardest part would have been creating the monster.
